Join the KACCAD team in serving most vulnerable community members
in Wakiso District of Uganda. There are many opportunities for your
support and sharing of skills. We invite you to come live and work
with us in Bulenga, Wakiso or help as a volunteer from your home
community. Volunteer opportunities are open to all people, regardless
of ability. Volunteer opportunities are available to people 18 years
old and above. As primary languages in our area of Uganda are English
and Luganda, volunteers mush speak English. To join our volunteer
team please email us your resume, a list of your skills/interests,
and tell us why you want to come live and volunteer in Uganda.
We are especially looking for people to help support projects in
pig and poultry house construction and repairs, home repairs, health/HIV/AIDS,
youth and child education, animal rearing, water and sanitation
(including well construction),construction of a Volunteer centre,
vocational skills development, project planning and management or
other skills that can help us transform our community. You do not
need construction skills to join our team of builders in repairing
homes and latrines of most needy community members or pig sties
at the KACCAD farm.
KACCAD is an all volunteer run and supported organization. Volunteerism
is central to sustaining KACCAD as an organization. KACCAD has had
and continues to maintain relationships with volunteers from around
the world: United Kingdom, Sweden, Holland, Germany, Ireland and
United States. Volunteers have worked on projects including: supporting
education in local schools, library set up for local schools, mobilization
of funds for KACCAD programs, web design, community HIV/AIDS and
health sensitization, school fees sponsorships, outreach and needs
assessment and other projects.
The cost to volunteer with KACCAD is $600USD for the first month
and $500USD per each additional month. A deposit of $150 is required
a month before your arrival in Uganda. This amount will come out
of the $500 you will be asked to contribute per month. This deposit
is non-refundable. The fee covers support while you prepare for
Uganda, airport pickup, transport to Bulenga, food and accommodation
while volunteering, supervision, and a donation to KACCAD.
The fee does not cover airline tickets, visas, vaccinations, drinking
water, leisure activities, or medical services. You'll likely need
$20-$40 a week to support a basic life which includes drinking water,
internet, transport, and a few western treats such as coffee and
chocolate. Safaris and white water rafting are a bit more expensive.
