We have used the rotation concept that has been so successful
in the piggery project and adapted it to tailoring. Tailoring
students complete a full training course in sowing and tailoring.
Upon completion they are loaned a sewing machine for a period
of two years. This loan gives them the opportunity to start
a business or home tailoring. Over 25 people have gained tailoring
skills to date.
This project has attracted a lot of community interest. KACCAD
has not been able to keep up with the demand for services.
The project is in need of funding to pay for facilitation
of trainings and teaching materials. Materials needed include
sewing machines, parts for their repair, cloth, patterns and
other tailoring supplies. Tools that do not require electricity
would be most beneficial seeing that the electricity in Uganda
is inconsistent. Your donation of sewing machines would be
greatly appreciated and well used. Financial support of this
project would help us further reach the community demand for
skills training.
